Close-ups is an experimental documentary that attempts to reconstruct memories using different media, including diary, photos, video and sound. In 2013, I returned to my homeland and unexpectedly had a reunion with my mother. We had been apart for over thirty years.

Artist statement: When I was young, I was separated from my mother. Thirty years had passed. I was not able to recognize her face and I didn’t know her personality. Small things like diet, hobbies, habits, I knew nothing about. In 2013, an unexpected encounter between mother and daughter. For a moment, it seemed somewhat real, yet surreal. All that was said, all that we had done, in bits and pieces, the uncertainties. After a period of time, I could begin to doubt that it ever happened. On this trip, between the coming and going there was no time to reflect. Although it was hard to meet each other, it happened after all. I documented these days, the very short moments we had together, that would have been otherwise swept away in the flow of time.
